Canadians United Against Modern Exclusion (CUAME) was recently established to fight new forms of prejudice, discrimination and stigmatization against Canadians. CUAME advocates for Canadians whose rights and freedoms have been compromised because of false or exaggerated narratives driven by foreign interference hysteria, national security overreach, and fear of the “other”.

This is an appeal from the people of the world to nine nuclear governments to each commit to a nuclear policy of no first strike, not ever, not for any reason; and to sign and ratify the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, and to collectively agree to immediately begin disarming on a schedule to completely eliminate all nuclear weapons from the earth no later than August 6, 2045.

23 July 2025, Japan – Ahead of the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, three organizations calling for the abolition of nuclear weapons, including the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations, issued a joint statement on the 23rd, calling for “the most important thing is to raise awareness in Japan and around the world about the inhumanity of nuclear weapons, regardless of differences of position.”

Last month, I wrote about the waste and futility of deploying a national missile defense (NMD), focussing on the technical issues that make the system unnecessary, unworkable and unaffordable.  This week, I want to discuss the many strategic problems that NMD will create and the geopolitical problems that will be created.  There is nothing positive that can be associated with NMD, and the strategic issues are more threatening than the technical ones.  It’s lose-lose in every way!

Canada on Saturday reaffirmed its ban on military exports that could be used in Gaza, rejecting claims in a July 29 report suggesting that arms still flow to Israel from Canada, Anadolu reports.

The war in Ukraine continues to shape China’s foreign relations. When European leaders visited Beijing last week to discuss trade and security, the need to find a resolution to the war was one major reason why Chinese-European relations had reached an “inflection point,” according to Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission president. For Europe, China’s close ties with Russia and perceived support for its war effort have overshadowed ties between China and Europe for more than three years. In Beijing, European Council President António Costa told his counterparts that China should “use its influence on Russia to respect the United Nations Charter and to bring an end of its war of aggression against Ukraine.”
