• Elizabeth May is the co-leader of the Green Party and represents the Vancouver Island riding of Saanich-Gulf Islands on the territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ Nation. She has worked as a lawyer and government policy advisor and was the executive director of the Sierra Club of Canada for 17 years.
• Gobind Dhugee is currently pursuing a JD at Osgoode Hall Law School at York University, and recently completed an MA in Political Economy with a Specialization in Work and Labour from Carleton University. His current research explores the relationship between labour and environmental movements in Canada, with particular attention to the auto industry.

China has announced the end of its intercountry adoption programme, a scheme that had allowed Chinese-born children to be adopted by families overseas. At a daily briefing on Thursday, Mao Ning, a spokeswoman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said China is no longer allowing foreign adoptions of the country’s children, with the only exception for blood relatives to adopt a child or a stepchild.

The China-Africa summit, which will last from September 4 to 6, will see leaders of African countries meet and discuss policies and cooperation agreements with officials from the continent‘s biggest lender and investor. Those agreements will set the tone for the two side‘s burgeoning relations for the next few years.

The Second Meeting of the China-US Working Group on Enhancing Climate Action in the 2020s concluded Friday in Beijing, with the two countries reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening dialogue and collaborative efforts in addressing climate change, which Chinese observers described as a vivid and concrete example of pragmatic cooperation between the two sides.

According to the readout released by the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment on Sunday night, China on September 4-6 hosted in Beijing the above-mentioned meeting, which was co-led by the China Special Envoy for Climate Change Liu Zhenmin and US Senior Advisor to the President for International Climate Policy John Podesta. Both sides continued their discussions on addressing the climate crisis, including implementation of the 2030 Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and preparations for the 2035 NDCs.

"The impact of AI on employment has become a topic of widespread concern for countries around the world. Many institutions in the United States and Europe have already begun researching this issue and reached some preliminary conclusions. However, there seems to be relatively little research on this topic in China, with even less information available to the public. Nevertheless, in June 2024, the National School of Development at Peking University organized a seminar, which led to many interesting discussions."

All of aforementioned treasures, unearthed from the Mawangdui Han Tombs 50 years ago, continue to stun numerous visitors every day at the Hunan Museum in Changsha, Central China's Hunan Province. These items are just a tiny part of more than 20,000 artifacts excavated from the Mawangdui Tombs, which embody the Han dynasty's grand vision of afterlife transformation, rooted in sophisticated cosmological and philosophical conceptions of life and the universe.
